Fun Things to Do Around Watertown Before School Starts

With a few weeks left of summer break, you may be running out of ways to keep the kids entertained and physically active until school starts. Help them enjoy these last few weeks with some of these exciting daytime activities in and around Watertown.

Go Indoor Rock Climbing – This is a fun and unique way to get active – away from the heat of the sun! Central Rock Gym in Watertown has 30,000 square feet of climbing terrain, 144 stations, 48 feet of lead wall, and 3,000 square feet of bouldering. Aka, your kids will be BEAT by the end of the day (phew)! Learn how to plan your visit here.

Bounce Around – Want to be coined the “cool parent”? Bring your kids and some friends to Launch Trampoline Park for a totally epic day of bouncing off the walls, dodgeball, foam pits, laser tag, and more! The park is open seven days a week, and even takes parties, if you’re feeling adventurous. Learn how you and your kids can defy gravity here. Trust us, you’re going to want to join.

Host a Neighborhood Field Day – What better way to connect with the neighbors than a family field day? After all, when else will all the neighborhood kids be available at the same time? Put together stations of your favorite sports and lawn games, and recruit parent volunteers to facilitate friendly competition! Head to Dick’s Sporting Goods at Dedham Mall for all your equipment needs, and if you’re handy, head to The Home Depot at Arsenal Yards to gather some DIY materials.

Practice Your Swing – Have an aspiring Red Sox batter on your hands? Take their training to the next level at Extra Innings (Watertown), Boston’s #1 indoor baseball and softball center! Check out all the practice options on their website.

Take A Dip – It is HOT outside, and your kids will love splashing around and cooling off in the pool. The Clarence W. Dealtry Memorial Swimming and Wading Pool is open until August 22 on the weekends from 11:15 am to 6:45 pm and the Pleasant Street Pool is open until Labor Day (check the hours here). Don’t forget to pack your sunscreen!

Take a deep breath – there are PLENTY of ways to keep your kiddos busy and exercised through the month of August! Enjoy the rest of your summer!
