There’s nothing better than a homecooked meal, especially when the ingredients come from local farms. The Watertown Farmer’s Market is in its third month and has plenty of delicious ingredients to make the perfect light and fresh summer dish. The market features twenty fantastic vendors, offering farm produce, baked goods, meat, poultry, and fish, as well as specialty and artisan vendors. There is truly something for everyone! Here are some easy summer Farmer’s Market dishes you can make at home:

Easy Tomato Bruschetta – Grab a fresh baguette from Swissbakers along with some tomatoes, onions, and cilantro from Dick’s Market Gardens to make an easy 5-minute appetizer that your guests will love! Chop your vegetables, toss them with some olive oil, lemon, salt, and pepper, and top baguette slices with a spoonful of the mixture to serve.

Grilled Corn Salsa – Some fresh corn on the grill combined with flavor-packed salsa from Tex Mex Eats is an incredibly simple way to “soup up” an already amazing snack! All you need is a bag of tortilla chips, and your friends will be following you around like that guy from the Tostitos commercial.

Salmon over Arugula SaladHooked Fish Shop and Boston Smoked Fish Shop have a wonderful assortment of smoked fish straight from the Boston Fish Pier. Gather your favorite vegetables from the vast selection of produce vendors to create a healthy and tasty summer salad!

Sweet and Spicy Chicken Thighs – Your next stop should be Sa’s Homestyle for a bottle of Sweet and Spicy Sauce; you can choose from five varieties: mild, hot, x-hot, and hot with organic cider vinegar… the choice is yours. Next, head over to Lilac Hedge Farm for bone-in skin-on chicken thighs. Baste the chicken thighs with the delicious sauce and either throw them in the oven or on the grill for an easy-breezy weeknight meal.

Fruit Cup Ice Cream Sundaes – It’s not summer without ice cream! Take home some gourmet nut-and sesame-free treats from Tipping Cow Ice Cream and a selection of berries from Ward’s Berry Farm for a sweet dessert without all the guilt!
