What’s Happening at Watertown Rec?

Watertown is a city of hidden gems, whether it’s restaurants you didn’t realize were there, or cool and quirky museums you didn’t know about – honestly, who can keep up? Our own Rec Department can certainly fall into that category, maybe because people assume it offers programming for a certain age group. Not true! Watertown’s Rec Department offers literally hundreds of free or low-cost programs for all ages and interests. Here’s just a sampling of what’s happening there this season:

For Children Pre-K to Grade 2: There are literally dozens of options for this age group, including yoga lessons through Artemis Yoga, tennis, informal indoor skill-building, intro to wrestling, music lessons, simple craft project sessions, floor hockey, baton twirling, and family movie nights! Head here for the full listing.

Trip Weeks: For warmer days, the Rec Department offers a week of fun summer field trips for kids grades 2 through 12, to places like the Southwick Zoo, Canobie Lake, Laser Craze, and Breezy Picnic Grounds and Waterslide!

For Middle and High Schoolers: Exclusive to this age group include opportunities to join in trampoline dodge ball, Laser Tag at Launch Watertown, flag football, rock climbing, street hockey, and skiing and snowboarding at Wachusett Mountain! There’s also Babysitter Training and Certification classes, as well as Middle School Game Night and indoor soccer. Head here to learn more.

For Adults: Although the majority of Rec Dept programs are designed for kids, there are several also offered for adults! Options include everything from Men’s Basketball pick-up games to discounted membership and Boston Ski and Sport’s Club, to Wachusett Mountain Ski and Snowboard passes, Artemis Yoga sessions, adult laser tag at Launch Watertown, and kayaking on the Charles River! The Rec Dept also offers access to Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins Tickets on a first-come, first-served basis.
