Volunteer Opportunities in Watertown

One of the many aspects that people love about Watertown is its strong sense of community. It’s a town that inspires you to give back – and lucky for us, the volunteer opportunities around town are many and varied. Whether you enjoy working in nature, the arts, with kids, or people with special needs, there are lots of meaningful ways you can make a difference in this wonderful place we call home. Here are a few opportunities to get you thinking:

Founded in 1977, Springwell is an organization dedicated to providing comprehensive support services to seniors, people with special needs, and their caregivers, to allow people a better chance of living in their own home. Staff and volunteers provide a whole host of services, including home meal delivery; medical escort; advice on money management; caregiver support; and shopping assistance. Head to their volunteer web page to learn how you can help!

The Mosesian Center for the Arts is home to a 380-seat Main Stage theater, a smaller Black Box theater, exhibition galleries, educational classrooms, and art studios. While it hosts dozens of performances and exhibitions each season, the Mosesian Center is also home to the Watertown Children’s Theatre and New Repertory Theatre. They have a vibrant volunteer program that includes opportunities for unpaid internships and apprenticeships, as well as one-off chances to usher individual shows. The Watertown Boys and Girls Club offers summer and after-school programming for kids 7-18 in the areas of academic success, healthy living, and character development. After school volunteers generally work in the games room, homework room, or gym, while programming volunteers have the opportunity to work with the basketball and swim teams or teach a Saturday morning art class! If regular volunteer hours don’t mesh with your schedule, you can sign up to help with a special event like their upcoming Mugar Memorial Golf Tournament, happening August 13th!
