Best Sunday Brunch Options

Sunday brunch is popular all year long, but really ramps up in the springtime (sorry, bad pun) with the arrival of Easter and Mother’s Day. We’ve written before about the many great options for celebrating Mom in Watertown. Whether you’re planning brunch for her or just with friends, here are some great ideas for local brunch fare:

  • StripTs: This local favorite serves its own brand of unique and eclectic dishes from a comfortable, relaxed perch on Arsenal Street. If you’ve never been to StripTs, their brunch menu is a great gateway into their cuisine, offering everything from their signature breakfast sandwich to sourdough pancakes with amaranth, pecan, and maple, to steak and eggs with smashed potatoes and crispy kale. All crazy good. Served Sundays 10 AM to 3 PM.

  • Deluxe Town Diner: A fixture in Watertown since 1947, the diner is a destination in itself, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Town Diner (as it’s known to locals) serves breakfast and brunch all day, with an unparalleled selection of crowd pleaser omelets and scrambles to signature breakfast sandwiches and French toast, to vegetarian and gluten-free fare and everything in between. You can’t go wrong here – your only problem might be figuring out what to order. Open Sundays 7 AM to 9 PM.

  • Branch Line: The newcomer of the crowd, it’s hard to believe that Branch Line has already been in Watertown since 2015. The Sunday brunch menu reflects their unique take on elegant bistro fare, featuring breakfast sandwiches like bacon and egg with fontina and smoky aioli; or prime rib melt with grilled onion, fontina, and creamy horseradish. Brunch plates include chorizo and eggs with schmaltz potato hash and green harissa, and chopped salad with their signature rotisserie chicken, feta, and red wine vinaigrette. Branch Line also has an impressive wine and beer list. Open Sundays 11 AM to 3 PM (then back open for dinner at 4:30).

  • Red Lentil Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant:  If you love brunch but would rather eat vegan/vegetarian, Red Lentil will make you forget you ever knew a strip of bacon. Try their Breakfast Bandito made with spiced soy sausage (or egg or tofu) and drizzled with vegan poblano cream sauce, or their Benedict Florentine layered with tomato, spinach, tempeh bacon, and egg or tofu scramble, topped with homemade vegan Hollandaise. Plus lots more, including a healthy kids’ menu! Open Sundays 9 AM to 3 PM.
