Ideas for School Vacation Week

February’s here – a month that can strike dread in the hearts of school kids’ parents everywhere. Because of course it brings February Vacation Week, which often seems to follow a little too close to the holidays (“didn’t they just have a vacation?!”). Luckily there’s a lot going on around Watertown to help occupy little ones, plus older kids too. Here’s a sampling of programs to check out:

  • For kids who love winter sports, check out Wachusett Mountain’s February Vacation Club! Available for folks 6-15 years old, the Club runs 9 AM to 3 PM Tuesday 2/20 through Friday 2/23, offering a range of services depending on interest level and ability. Supervised lunch provided. Head to their website for details and registration.

  • Kids grades K through 8 are invited to explore the many ways that bodies create art, at the Mosesian Center for the Arts Vacation Camp! Half- and full-day options are available, with classes starting Tuesday 2/20 and culminating in an artists’ showcase on 2/23. Click here for details.

  • Along those artistic lines, Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts also offers programming over the break, absolutely free, for kids of all ages! Drop-in classes run Monday through Friday, with special extended hours Wednesday till 8 PM. Check out the MFA website for details.

  • For kids Pre-K through grade 5, the Watertown Community Education is offering “Space Week” as its February Vacation Adventure Camp this year. Children are welcome on a daily basis, or Tuesday 2/20 through Friday 2/23, 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM. Slots fill fast, so register now on their website

  • The Watertown Boys and Girls Club will host its Vacation Camp Tuesday 2/20 through Friday 2/23, 8 AM to 6 PM, for kids 7-18. Participants must be registered Club members ($25 membership fee can be paid through their website at and can register by the day or for the whole week’s session.
