Westcott Mercantile

With the winter holidays right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about where to do your holiday shopping once you’ve exhausted all the amazing places right here in Watertown. Westcott Mercantile in Belmont is a “modern general store” that offers a mix of both vintage and new products as well as crafts from local and regional artisans. It’s a quaint, fun store where you’re sure to find unique gifts for your loved ones. Let’s take a closer look:

Established in 2013, Westcott Mercantile boasts two locations and can be found at 436-438 Common Street and 63 Leonard Street in Belmont. Operating hours vary by location, so be sure to check their website here. Their motto, “Goods and Good Company”, is a nod to early 1900’s general stores that served as local community gathering places as well as retail centers. This modern mercantile strives to do the same and encourages patrons to “browse and enjoy the ‘goods and good company’”.

The retail mix at Wescott Mercantile ranges from home goods and garden items to pet supplies and gifts for menwomen, and children. They also carry a variety of sweet treats, specialty food items, and apothecary goods like yummy scented candles and soaps.

Their gift baskets are absolutely stunning and make the perfect holiday surprise. You can either choose your own custom mix of items that the will package if for you, or let them know your price range and target audience and the staff will handpick and package a basket for you.

Westcott Mercantile also regularly hosts in-store events and participates in community gatherings as well. On December 7th, they’ll be taking part in the Cushing Square Holiday Stroll from 10 AM to 9 PM. Head on down for tastings, prizes, raffles, and giveaways. And be sure to bring in a non-perishable item for their food drive!

Be sure to follow Westcott Mercantile on Facebook,  Instagram, and Twitter to stay up to date and in the loop!
