How to Host a Cozy Fall Meal

Those fall temps and shorter days have us all thinking cozy dinners by the fire. No fireplace? No problem – we have the rest of it handled for you! We’ve scoped out where in Watertown to find everything you need to host the perfect fall meal – from the freshest ingredients to the coolest tableware, flowers, wine, dessert, and more! Here’s how to get started:

First, does your table need sprucing up? Hosting a dinner get-together is the perfect excuse to up your entertainment game, and nowhere is that easier than Target, where you can find a ton of inexpensive and fun options for tableware, bar glasses, serving pieces, linens – even some cool throw pillows like these:  


Now onto the food. Once you have your menu set and your shopping list pulled together, you’ll be on the hunt for the freshest ingredients you can find. And for that, you’ll want to start at the Watertown Farmer’s Market, open Thursdays 2-6:00 through October 26th. Check out vendors like Lilac Hedge Farm for locally-raised beef, lamb, and poultry; Boston’s Red’s Best for the freshest fish around; and Freitas Farm to grab all your locally-grown fruits and vegetables. 

If your cooking skills max out at dinner, no worries – there are amazing dessert options all over town. Russo’s bakes in house seasonal treats like their decadent Pumpkin Cheesecake and Apple Crumble Pie, along with an amazing array of cakes, brownies, and bars. And Lily’s Café and French Bakery has the best cake and cupcake selection anywhere in Watertown – our favorites have to be the Oreo and the Boston Crème. #OffTheHook

Next up, flowers for the table, which brings us to Cass the Florist, one of our favorite local shops! Family owned and operated, Cass’ offers a wide selection of fresh-cut floral arrangements and great price points. And if you don’t see what you’re looking for, they’ll work with you to dream up something perfect.
