Sipping Hard Cider Around Watertown

Ok, folks, we have always been huge fans of the craft beer scene that Watertown and its surrounding areas have to offer. But our newest obsession is hard cider, and we’re especially in love with those that include our favorite fall flavors. Unlike the regular apple cider you’ll find at your favorite orchard, hard cider is an alcoholic beverage made from the fermented juice of apples. And, lucky for us, there are a bunch of awesome cideries within a short drive from Watertown.

Downeast Cider House offers tours, free samples, and cider flights at their new location in East Boston; their ciders are also available to buy online. The pumpkin blend, available seasonally, includes fresh pumpkin and is finished with a chai brew. Yum!

Harpoon Brewery has been a mainstay in Boston since the late 80’s and is well known for their variety of beers. But, they also make a bunch of really amazing ciders. At this time of year, we can’t get enough of their pumpkin cider, with all the quintessential flavors of fall, as well as their classic craft cider

Far From The Tree Cider is located in the heart of historic Salem and offers a ton of fun in their tap room. They’re open daily with rotating special events, including video game night and movies on the patio, and often have food trucks on site and pop-up at local restaurants. The Apple of My Chai cider, with cinnamon, clove, cardamom, and orange peel, is a fall must-try!

Bantam is located right in Somerville’s Union Square and is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Tours are on a first-come, first served basis and flights, drafts, bottles, cans, and growlers are all available for purchase. The taproom includes many of their standards, like the Wunderkind, as well as a rotation of other varieties; check the site to see what’s being featured today!

Stormalong in Sherbourne and Prospect Ciderworks in Boston are two more local favorites. Check their websites to find out where you can pick some up to bring home today!
