Get Social this Summer

Whether you’re new to the Watertown area or a long-time resident, meeting new people with similar interests and hobbies can often be challenging. The more relaxed summer months can be the perfect time of year to get outside your comfort zone and join a local group. Here are just a few local groups that we’ve scoped out for you:

If reading is your jam, the Watertown Free Public Library offers a variety of monthly events and activities. Book groups meet every month and new members are always welcome.

For families with young kiddos, the Watertown Family Network offers resources, education, and play groups for children ages birth through four years old. Families can join age appropriate facilitated play groups, drop-in playtime, or family events such as music Fridays, the annual family picnic, and Spring Fling.

Running enthusiasts might be interested in Runfellow, a run club that meets every week in various locations around Somerville and Boston. Runners of all abilities are welcome and there is no set pace. After your run, enjoy some drinks and snacks with your fellow pavement pounders at a specified bar!

The website Meetup is a fantastic place to find social groups based on your specific interests. Here are a few that caught our eye:

We’ve only just scratched the surface here, folks! Did we miss your favorite group? Tell us in the comments!
