Summertime Food Events

Summertime is always a great time to be in Watertown, whether it’s paddling out on the Charles River or sipping cocktails on the patio. This summer we’ve got a bunch of food festivals and events around the area – here are some you’ll definitely want to check out! 

  • WGBH Craft Beer Festival: On Saturday July 15th WGBH will host this very popular annual event at its headquarters, from 7 – 10 PM! Guests 21 and up will get to sample dozens of brews from 20 of the best breweries in the area, along with tasty eats from popular food truck vendors. There’s live music, too – ticket and event info here!

  • Summer Solstice Celebration: Hosted by Harvard University, this family-friendly event will take place on the solstice (that’s Wednesday June 21st for you newbies) from 5 to 9 PM. There will be circus performers, live music, dance, food trucks, and hands-on activities for all ages, along with free admission to all of Harvard’s museums of science and culture! The entire event is free and open to the public, with complimentary parking at Oxford Street Garage (so you don’t have to, you know – pahk your cah you know wheah).   • Taste of Somerville: Always hugely popular, this year’s Taste of Somerville takes place in Tufts Park on June 14th from 5 to 9 PM. 60+ of Somerville’s finest restaurants and food trucks will be on hand serving up their tastiest dishes, along with local wineries and breweries, who’ll be offering up impressive pours. There will also be plenty of entertainment for all ages, including a pop-up playground jungle, bocce, and fooseball. Prefer the pampered approach? The VIP ticket package offers artisanal cocktails, oyster and wine pairings, and garden furniture to relax in. Head here for tickets and a full list of vendors!

  • Taste of Cambridge: Not to be outdone, Cambridge hosts its own tasting event on July 11th from 5:30-8:30 PM, in Lechmere Canal Park. The scale is massive, with over 100 local restaurants participating, as well as specialty butchers, cheese mongers, honey purveyors, wine and beer suppliers, and other local coffee and specialty drink experts. The “Taste and Spirit” $75 ticket includes all food and beverages, along with 4 beer servings, wine glasses, or specialty cocktails. There are lower-priced economy packages as well – and no matter what ticket you purchase, everyone gets a vote as to who wins the “Best Taste” of Cambridge! Head here for event info. 

  • Finally, if you love Armenian food, the Saint James Church will hold its Annual Armenian Festival and Picnic on June 11th from 12 to 5 PM! There will be lots of delicious Armenian food, as well as a raffle, kids’ activities, and live music. Head to their website for details.
