Who’s Ready for Brazilian Food?

We can always count on Watertown to spoil us rotten with the best selection of dining options anywhere. Our choices are even broader now, thanks to the newest addition to the food scene, Steam Flavor! Taking over the space most recently occupied by Power Café, Steam Flavor is a Brazilian restaurant run by Roni Louzada and his daughter Thamara Martins, specializing in buffet-style cuisine, but also offering an extensive selection of a la carte options, desserts, tropical soft drinks, and a full salad bar.

Here’s how the menu breaks down:

Buffet: Guests are charged by the pound, which – trust us – won’t sound like a lot once you see the size of the spread they offer. Think yummy Brazilian standards like rice and beans and fried plantains (staples offered daily) mixed with a rotating selection of entrees and side dishes that includes Oven-roasted Beef, Eggplant Pesto, Fried Chicken, Pulled Pork, Sauteed Collard Greens, and the Pasta of the Day. You could come here every day for a month and not run out of combinations.

Entrees: If you’d rather order a la carte, Steam Flavor has you covered, with an impressive list of Brazilian-inspired meals you won’t find anywhere else in Watertown. Try the Churrasco Skewers, which are marinated beef, chicken, or pork pieces grilled and served with rice, french fries, and salad. Or check out the Bobó de Camarão – a Brazilian take on shrimp chowder, served in yucca purée with jasmine rice and your choice of side (we recommend the fried sweet potato).

Artisan Burgers:  The Steam Flavor chefs give what they call a “nod to North American taste” with their impressive burger selection. Do not miss the South Beach “Mangos”, featuring pulled pork shoulder served with Swiss cheese and mustard on a pressed French roll – a perfect excuse to break out the new drool emoji.

Desserts: Here’s where you can really get adventurous and order something like the Queijadinha, which is a silky and flavorful custard made from coconut, cheese, and condensed milk. Or try the Pavé – a delicious combination of sliced sweetened fruit over cookies and vanilla cream.

As they say in Brazil, Bom Proveito! Get hours and reservation info and more on the Steam Flavor website.
