St. Patrick’s Day Pub Crawl

Did you know that Massachusetts is the most Irish state in America with an Irish population of almost 25%? Yep, so it’s no wonder St. Patrick’s Day is such a huge celebration around these parts! This year, St. Patty’s Day is on a Friday – may we suggest a pub crawl to celebrate? Put on all the green you’ve got and make your way through these awesome local hangouts:

Conley’s Pub and Grille at 164 Belmont Street has been a Watertown establishment since 2001. This Irish-style tavern has over twenty beers on tap and an extensive menu. As this is the first stop on your crawl, we suggest an order of pulled pork sliders or the nachos from their starters list.

Our second stop takes you a little more than a half mile down the road to the well known Donohue’s Bar and Grill. The atmosphere at Donohue’s is casual and fun and the perfect place to listen to some live music, impress with your karaoke skills. You can’t go wrong with the Shepherd’s pie and a nice cold beer. You may also want to consider coming back the day after to treat your hangover with their traditional Irish breakfast.

Next, Uber it a few short miles to Raider Tavern at 208 Waverley Avenue. The restaurant was totally gutted and renovated in 2014 and offers the feel of a small town bar with an updated interior. Try one of their yummy martinis (we especially like the pomegranate) while noshing on some potato skins, fish and chips, or Tavern meatballs.

Another two miles into Newton lands you at the final stop of the evening, Tommy Doyle’s Irish Pub and Restaurant. Here you can indulge in Guinness short ribs and one of their many Irish whiskeys before heading home for a well-deserved long sleep. Sláinte!’
