Festive Holiday Events in Watertown

The holidays are in full swing, and Watertown and its surroundings are packed with great events to help celebrate the season! Here are just a few you should know about:

  • On Thursday December 1st, The Commander’s Mansion will hold its Annual Holiday Open House from 10 AM – 8 PM. This hugely popular event is geared for all ages, with self-guided tours of decorated rooms, gingerbread house decorating, holiday arts and crafts, and of course hot cocoa and treats. Santa makes his appearance from 6-8 PM, so get on line early! ;) More details on their website.

  • If you’re into holiday crafts and are able to spare a few workday hours, Mount Auburn Cemetery is offering a Holiday Wreath-Making Workshop on December 1st from 10:00 – 11:30 AM. Come watch their experts demo different techniques before diving in and making your own! All materials are included in the registration fee – all you need to bring are some garden shears and your big ideas. Head here to register.

  • Continuing on the craft theme, the Watertown Art Association will host a hands-on interactive art workshop called “Stampin’ Up with Charlotte Rose” on Saturday December 3rd from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Arsenal Project Innovation Space. Come hang out and learn the art of decorative stamping – and get a big chunk of that Xmas list taken care of! Details here.

  • Also at The Arsenal Project, be sure to check out the Holiday Artisan Market on December 17th and 18th. Over 50 local artists and artisans will be on site with handcrafted jewelry, soaps, illustrations, textiles, candles and more. Don’t miss out!

  • Get into the Hanukkah spirit at the 10th Annual Everyone Loves Latkes event in Harvard Square! The Harvard Square Business Association will be serving up hot and freshly-made latkes December 20th from 1:30-2:30 PM, on Brattle Plaza in front of Hidden Sweets. We’ve never met a latke we didn’t like – see you on the plaza.

  • Ready for a fresh take on some holiday tunes? North Carolina rockers Delta Rae will bring their Winter Acoustic Tour to Cambridge’s Sinclair venue on Monday December 12th – head here for ticket info. And The Arsenal Center for the Arts will host a night of Christmas Jazz with The Kevin Harris Project on Wednesday December 21st @ 7:30 PM. Tickets and event info are here.
