Famous People Who Got Their Start in Watertown

  1. This woman could not see, hear, or speak from the age of 2, but became one of the world’s most famous human rights advocates. She lived in Watertown while a student at the Perkins School for the Blind, and went on to graduate from Radcliffe College (AKA Harvard) in 1904. Despite her massive physical limitations, she traveled to over 35 countries on 5 continents, and even completed a five month, 40,000 mile trek across Asia.   2. “Work hard. Be respectful. And no drama.” So reads the motto of this famous athletic figure born into a prominent Watertown family back in 1945. One of 10 children, he was a hockey star at BC High and went on to score big on the college level, snagging 134 points in 81 games for the BC Eagles. He now coaches his alma mater and holds the title as the winningest active coach in NCAA hockey history, now inching towards his team’s 1,000th So who is this Watertown sports legend?   3. Born and raised in Watertown, this local celeb has acted alongside some of Hollywood’s biggest stars, including Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert Deniro. Cast in her first film at just 10 years old, she played the daughter of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis in True Lies at the age of 14. After graduating from Watertown High, she took on her most famous role as Faith Lehane in Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
