Rock Climbing (For All Levels!)

Does another January in the city conjure up images like … this one, perhaps??

Yikes – make it stop! No matter how bad the snow gets this year, we’re ready for you, with just the thing to cure even the worst cabin fever – how about some indoor rock climbing? Central Rock Gym on Acton Street features walls up to 50 feet high and the largest lead structure on the east coast – these guys are serious! They’ve got your back, whether you’re a newbie or veteran climber, and will help you map out routes that are fun and challenging no matter what your skill level.

If you need to brush up on your belaying (aka rope) skills, the CRG staff will have you book an hour class to walk you through the basics. Alternatively, they’ll literally do all the heavy lifting for you, taking you around the facility and letting you climb to your heart’s content under their supervision. You can book time solo, with friends, or even book the facility for an after-hours work event, birthday party – they even offer all-night climbing parties for the ultimate super fans (hey, we might get there after a few sessions).

CRG also houses a fully-equipped fitness center featuring Rogue Fitness equipment, free weights, pull up bars, kettle-bells, treadmills, ellipticals, spinners, and more. Workout solo or book a session with their personal trainer – or sign up for a class! Check out their fitness calendar to see what’s on the schedule this month.

If yoga’s your thing, you won’t find a more beautiful studio than the one at CRG. Over 2,500 square feet, naturally lit and temperature controlled, their class space will have you thinking Canyon Ranch, minus the four-hour drive. Teachers can handle all skill levels, from beginner to restorative to power yoga – check out the schedule, here.
